Curemonte
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
Three castles and three churches crowd onto the narrow ridge of Curemonte, which drops more than sixty metres to the Sourdoire valley on one side and the Maumont on the other. The village is recorded as early as 860 and flourished in the 11th century under the viscounts of Turenne. The 45th parallel runs through the commune, halfway between the North Pole and the equator.
