Bagnara di Romagna

Rocca, walls, town gate, earth ramparts and moat: Bagnara is the only medieval castrum on the plain south of the Po to survive complete. It was refounded on this site after the old village was destroyed in 1222, and Caterina Sforza later met the Duke of Calabria secretly in the rocca in 1494. It lies on the Stradelli Guelfi, an old route linking castles from Bologna to the sea.
