Castelponzone
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Rope was this village's living: for generations almost every family turned hemp from the surrounding fields into cord, a trade now remembered in the Museo dei Cordai. Once the seat of the Ponzone family's fief, a few kilometres north of the Po, it kept its grid of low, wide arcaded streets and narrow alleys because decline left no call for new building.
