Nusco
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Known as the balcony of Irpinia, Nusco sits on a mountain ridge over 900 metres up, on the watershed between the Ofanto and the Calore, with views from the ruined Lombard castle reaching to Monte Vulture and the Matese. Its first bishop, Saint Amatus, was born here, and his relics lie in the cathedral. Every January the town lights great bonfires in its streets for the Notte dei Falò.
