Michael Corleone asked to meet Apollonia at Bar Vitelli in Savoca, still open today, and other scenes of The Godfather were filmed outside the church of San Nicolò. The medieval village rises on a rocky double-peaked hill facing the Ionian coast, among citrus groves, vineyards and olives. Once the leading town of the Agrò valley, it kept many of its seventeen churches.
