Monteagudo de las Vicarías

Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España

Close to the old border between Castile and Aragon, Monteagudo de las Vicarías still keeps its town gate, stretches of wall and a castle-palace known as La Recompensa. The village heads the Las Vicarías district of Soria province, and more than half its land is a special protection area for birds. Out in the countryside stands the Castillo de la Raya, the last fortress on the Castilian side.
