Roncal
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Cheese-making, livestock and rural tourism sustain this stone village at 720 metres in the middle of Navarre's Pyrenean Roncal valley. Its quarters hold 18th-century mansions carved with the valley's arms, a Gothic-Renaissance church of San Esteban with star vaults, and the house-museum of Julián Gayarre, whose mausoleum was sculpted by Mariano Benlliure.
