Gassin

After the Saracens were driven out, people moved up from the unsafe shore and built Gassin on a rocky spur some 200 metres above the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. For centuries it lived from olives, wheat and vines; its ramparts survive, and its lanes include L'Androuno, said to be one of the narrowest streets in the world.
