Through a passage under the bell tower of Saint-Nicolas you enter Pujols-le-Haut, the old fortified village on a spur above the valleys of the Lot and the Masse, facing Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Inside, 16th-century stone and half-timbered houses sit among remains of the medieval ramparts, with the English Gate and the base of a castle tower still standing. The castle itself was demolished in 1829.

Highlights

  • The gateway under Saint-Nicolas's bell tower, a former collegiate church
  • Sainte-Foy church, rebuilt inside the walls in the early 16th century
  • The English Gate and 16th-century houses on Rue de la Citadelle
  • Views over the Lot valley and Villeneuve-sur-Lot
  • The commune's museum of traditional toys, opened in 2015
