Anversa degli Abruzzi
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Gabriele D'Annunzio visited in 1905 and set his tragedy La fiaccola sotto il moggio in the ruined Norman castle, whose tall, thin remnant is the torch of the title. The village stands where the Gole del Sagittario gorge begins, its medieval core still intact. Until the years after the Second World War its workshops made majolica, and some pieces are on show on the main square.
