Arrone
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
A Roman noble named Arrone is said to have built a castle on a rocky spur of the Valnerina in the late 9th century, and the village still carries his name. The upper quarter, the Terra, keeps its walls and narrow lanes, while the Santa Maria district grew outside Porta San Giovanni. The river Nera runs past the castle walls, bringing rafting, rowing and canyoning.
