San Gemini
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
A Syrian monk, Gemine, gave his name to this Umbrian town on the old Via Flaminia, and his relics rest in its 12th-century church. Inside two rings of walls the main street winds in an S from gate to gate, and nearby springs supply the Sangemini mineral water. Each October the Giostra dell'Arme pits the horsemen of the two rioni against each other.
