Barga
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
So many people from Barga emigrated to Scotland in the late 19th century that it is known as the most Scottish town in Italy, and every August it holds a fish and chips festival. The medieval town sits at 410 metres on a hill in the middle Serchio valley, entered through Porta Reale and Porta Macchiaia. At its top stands the Romanesque Duomo of San Cristoforo.
