Montemarcello

Straight, grid-like streets give the village a clearly Roman layout, and its central square exists only because houses destroyed by a 1944 air raid were never rebuilt. Near the top of the Caprione headland, it looks over the Gulf of La Spezia, the Magra valley and the Apuan Alps. Today it is a quiet place favoured by writers and intellectuals, inside the Montemarcello-Magra regional park.
