Bevagna

Unusually for Umbria, Bevagna lies flat on the plain of the Topino rather than on a hill. It grew over Roman Mevania, a station on the Via Flaminia, whose line the main street still follows, and Roman columns and friezes surface all over town. At its heart is the lopsided Piazza Silvestri, framed by the Gothic Palazzo dei Consoli and two 12th-century Romanesque churches.
