Giano dell'Umbria
Giano dell’Umbria
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Tradition links the name to a temple of Janus. The village sits on a hill at the foot of the Monti Martani, looking north over open country, with oak and beech woods around it. In the pink-stone church of San Francesco, 14th-century frescoes survive behind Baroque wooden altars, while the 12th-century Abbey of San Felice stands alone on its own rise.
