Colletta
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Abandoned in the 1950s, this all-stone village in the hills of the Riviera di Ponente was brought back to life from the 1990s. Architect Giancarlo De Carlo led a restoration faithful to the original materials, while new telecommunications let remote workers live among its lanes. Founded around the 13th century as a refuge from Saracen raids, it now presses oil again from local taggiasca olives.
