Oriolo
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Coastal families fleeing Saracen raids are said to have founded Oriolo as a refuge on a sandstone spur some 450 metres up, above the Ferro valley. The medieval village keeps the fronts of noble palaces along its main street, which climbs to the Aragonese castle. From here, roads lead into the Sarmento and Sinni valleys and the Pollino range.
