Culla
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Templar knights bought Culla and all its lands in 1303, and the castle then stayed with their heirs, the Order of Montesa, until the 19th century. The village sits on a 1,121 m mountain in the Alt Maestrat, its streets still following their medieval plan, amid deep ravines, caves and potholes. Below it, the Montlleó river runs through canyons reachable only from Culla.
