At 1,456 metres in the Maestrazgo uplands, a rocky outcrop carries Puertomingalvo and its castle, one of the best-preserved fortresses in the area and a natural lookout. Below it a tangle of narrow streets holds Levantine Gothic houses and a stone town hall from the 14th and 15th centuries, with paired windows, a carved wooden eave and a small castle interpretation centre inside.
