Liérganes
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Cannons once came out of Liérganes: in 1622 the municipality got Spain's first blast furnaces, casting arms and shot for the military. The village lies along the River Miera below two rounded hills nicknamed las tetas de Liérganes, and its old core of 16th- and 17th-century houses is a protected historic ensemble. In 1862 a spa opened on the sulphurous Fuente Santa spring, turning it into a resort.
