Mogrovejo
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
The family that gave Mogrovejo its name also produced Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo, and their late 13th-century tower is still the village's oldest building. Some forty people live here, on a shelf of land in the Liébana valley with the Ándara massif of the Picos de Europa rising behind. Stone manor houses with wrought-iron balconies, haylofts and bread ovens make up a centre protected as a whole since 1985.
