Roda de Isábena
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Spain's smallest settlement with a cathedral sits on a hilltop guarding the Isábena valley, a reminder that in the 10th century it was a bishop's seat and capital of the county of Ribagorza. The Romanesque cathedral of San Vicente, rebuilt after Abd al-Malik sacked the village in 1006, still towers over a cluster of stone houses, walls and the fortified prior's palace.
