Teguise
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
For over four centuries this inland town in the north of Lanzarote was the island's capital, until the seat moved to Arrecife in 1852. Teguise, also called La Villa, was founded in 1414 and served as capital of the Kingdom of the Canary Islands from 1425 to 1448. Today its Sunday morning market draws crowds of visitors.
