Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Known in old records as Viniegra de Suso, the 'upper' Viniegra is one of the 7 Villas of the Rioja Alta. Its written history begins in 1366, when it was listed among the places of the Lordship of Cameros that Henry II of Trastámara handed to Juan Ramírez de Arellano. Home to only a few dozen people, it joined Spain's Most Beautiful Villages association in 2019.
