Polignac
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
A ring of houses wraps around the foot of a basalt volcanic plug at Polignac, and on top, about a hundred metres above the village, stands a vast fortress. Its square keep reaches 32 metres. The village lies a few kilometres from Le Puy-en-Velay in a landscape of old volcanoes, including Mont Denise.
