Bagolino
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Carnival here goes back to the 16th century and belongs to the balarì, masked dancers whose felt hats are wrapped in red ribbon and sewn with borrowed family gold. Bagolino sits at 700 to 800 metres in the Caffaro valley, a tangle of abutting houses, arcades, fountains and stepped lanes climbing to the church of San Giorgio. The area also makes Bagòss, a salty cheese in the style of grana.
Highlights
