Walls and a castle cut Borgo Vecchio, Termoli's old town, off from the modern city on a promontory jutting into the Adriatic. Inside is a knot of narrow lanes and fishermen's houses painted in pastel colours, with sea views at the end of the alleys and trabucchi out over the water. The Swabian castle guards the approach, and an Apulian Romanesque cathedral fills the central square.
