Castellaro Lagusello

The name tells you what to expect: a 'castellaro', or fortified enclosure, beside a 'lagusello', a little lake, here shaped like a heart. The hamlet sits on a low hill in moraine country a few kilometres from Lake Garda, inside 12th-century walls that keep four of their original ten towers. Nearby, the Fondo Tacoli pile-dwelling site belongs to a UNESCO World Heritage listing.
