Collalto Sabino
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
On the old frontier between the Papal States and the Kingdom of Naples, Collalto Sabino once minted its own coins and received Emperor Frederick II. The village climbs a mountain spur south-east of Lake Turano, ringed by 15th-century walls and crowned by a baronial castle that passed from the Savelli to the Strozzi, the Soderini and finally the Barberini.
