Santa Severina
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
A steep rocky hill 326 metres up gives Santa Severina its wide view, from the Neto valley to the Ionian coast near Crotone. For centuries it was the seat of an archbishop, and the castle, later held by the Carafa family, still faces the cathedral across Piazza Campo. It was the birthplace of Pope Zachary.
