Sappada Vecchia-Plodn
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
German-speaking settlers from the Tyrol founded Sappada in the 11th century, and their Bavarian dialect, Plodarisch, is still spoken in this Alpine valley at the source of the Piave. Sappada Vecchia is the group of nine older hamlets, built of horizontal timbers in the blockbau style, with pastures and conifer woods below Monte Peralba.
