Toppo
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Roman villas with mosaics show that people lived here on the routes from the Po plain to the Alpine passes. A hamlet of Travesio, Toppo has had two distinct parts since the 13th century: I Masi, with its rural houses of medieval origin, and Pino, below the ruins of a 12th-century castle. In 1543, as the castle decayed, the counts of Toppo built a new palace in the village.
