Vigoleno
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
A single gate, guarded by a rounded ravelin, leads into this walled hamlet on the ridge between the Ongina and Stirone valleys, where the castle keep, an oratory and a fountain share one small square. Held for centuries by the Scotti Douglas, the castle was restored in the 1920s by Princess Ruspoli Gramont, whose guests ranged from D'Annunzio to Mary Pickford; Ladyhawke was partly filmed here.
