Estaing
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
From the 13th to the 18th century the d'Estaing family were among the most powerful lords of the Rouergue, and their castle still rises over the village where the Coussane flows into the Lot. Pilgrims on the Via Podiensis cross the river by its old bridge, UNESCO-listed among the routes to Compostela. On the first Sunday of July the village honours Saint Fleuret, whose relics a d'Estaing cardinal brought here.
