Lods climbs a steep slope above the Loue in two layers: winegrowers' houses cling to the hillside around the church, while mills, forges and a string of weirs line the river below. Vines were the village's living until phylloxera, and railway-borne competition later undercut both vineyards and forges. That past is told in the Musée de la Vigne et du Vin; today the river draws anglers and canoeists.
