Monestiés
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
The Occitan name Monestièr, meaning monastery, hints at the origins of this village on the Cérou, once the main town of the valley. It lies in the Ségala, a country of long schist plateaux split by narrow valleys, a few kilometres from Carmaux and not far from Albi.
