Puycelsi
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
Benedictine monks from Aurillac founded Puycelsi in the 10th century on a hilltop high above the Vère, and its walls were reportedly never taken by force despite several sieges. Almost abandoned in the 1950s, it was restored by its residents, and its 14th-century ramparts, Irissou Gate and church of Saint-Corneille now look out over the Grésigne forest in the Gaillac wine country.
