Saint-Suliac
Member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
Granite houses and narrow lanes all face the little harbour in Saint-Suliac, one of the few true fishing villages on the Rance estuary between Saint-Malo and Dinan. The parish is almost a peninsula, with 12 kilometres of shore followed by the GR 34 coastal path past old salt pans, a tide mill and the 73-metre Mont Garrot, a viewpoint over the estuary.
Highlights
- The 13th-century Gothic church, with fortified tower and parish close
- Dent de Gargantua, a 3.4-metre quartzite standing stone
- Huîtrière de Garrot, a 10th-century Viking camp revealed by the tide
- Beauchet tide mill and the Les Guettes salt pans, founded in 1736
- Mont Garrot, with views over the Rance estuary
