Campo Ligure
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Fine gold and silver threads, shaped by hand with small pliers, have been Campo Ligure's trade since its first filigree workshop opened in 1884; it is now Italy's national centre for the craft. It lies mid-way along the Valle Stura, where three streams meet below the Spinola castle, and a medieval bridge crosses the Stura. For centuries it was an imperial fief, often at odds with its lords.
