Cassinetta di Lugagnano
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Two centres, Cassinetta and the older Lugagnano, make up this village on the Naviglio Grande west of Milan, linked across the canal by a 17th-century granite bridge. Milanese noble families such as the Trivulzio, Visconti and Castiglioni built country villas with gardens along the water. The Birago family left a 15th-century church and a mill on the Roggia Biraga that still works.
