Volpedo
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Giuseppe Pellizza, painter of Il quarto stato, was born here, and reproductions of his canvases now stand around the streets at the very spots he painted. The village sits on a low hill where the Curone stream leaves the hills for the Po plain, its old core still marked by 16th-century bastions. Fruit is the local trade, peaches above all.
