Montefiore dell'Aso
Montefiore dell’Aso
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Its name is thought to honour Flora, goddess of the fields, and the town's crest shows five flowers sprouting from the five hills it covers along the ridge between the Aso and Menocchia valleys. Long stretches of wall and six towers survive. The old convent of San Francesco now holds a museum with the remains of a Carlo Crivelli polyptych and rooms devoted to local artist Adolfo De Carolis.
