A red wine carries this hill village's name: Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, a DOC grown on the hills between the Esino and Misa valleys, ten kilometres from the Adriatic. The castle keeps its pentagonal ring of walls, with La Scarpa, a covered rampart walk built beneath houses, running round its whole perimeter. Below the streets, caves dug over centuries for storing food and sheltering from sieges can partly be visited.
