The old town of Posada climbs a hilltop near the Tyrrhenian coast, crowned by the ruins of the Castello della Fava and its 13th-century square tower. Historic capital of the Baronia, the castle changed hands between the Giudicato of Arborea and Aragon, then became the seat of the barons of Posada, the last Sardinian fief, bought out only in 1856.
