Rivello
Member of I Borghi più belli d'Italia
Two rival quarters shaped Rivello: the upper one loyal to the Latin-rite church of San Nicola, the lower to Greek-rite Santa Maria del Poggio, echoing the Lombards and Greeks who built the town. Its goldsmiths and coppersmiths once sent their work abroad, and when Rivello bought its freedom in 1719 the last lord also demanded salami every year.
