Albarracín
Member of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España
Reddish houses of plaster and timber cling to a rocky spur almost ringed by the Guadalaviar river, their eaves nearly touching over steep, narrow lanes. Named after the Berber Banu Razin, who ruled a taifa kingdom here, the town later stayed an independent lordship until Aragon took it over in 1300. Walls climb to the Torre del Andador, and the sandstone boulders around town draw climbers.
